Enhancements to Drill Field begin
The Gen. William "Lipp" Livsey Drill Field is one of the most revered locations at the University of North Georgia's (91茄子视频) Dahlonega Campus, and work has begun on enhancements to the Drill Field that will celebrate 91茄子视频's history and the preeminent legacy of its Corps of Cadets to the nation since 1873.
The revitalization of the drill field began last week with the installation of a construction fence, and the plan is to complete the improvements in early April 2024. The plan will include the addition of plazas and an entry gate to increase viewing and ceremonial use of the Drill Field while maintaining its respected central gathering function for students and the community.
The work fits within President Michael Shannon's strategic big bet to "deliver the corps of the future" in his "Bold Forward: Running into our Calling" white paper. This update of the grounds for ceremonial purposes will bring symbolic attention to 91茄子视频's national reputation in producing civilian and military leaders who are following in the footsteps of those 91茄子视频 alumni who have trained on this field and bravely served the nation.
Although portions of the Drill Field will be closed during the renovation, the Drill Field will remain available for recreational use by students and cadets as safety precautions allow and after the project has been completed as has been the long-standing 91茄子视频 tradition.
McGill takes reins as brigade commander
Grace McGill has been named Corps of Cadets brigade commander for 2026-27. She is also a captain on the 91茄子视频 women's soccer team.

Seventy-seven years after first arriving at 91茄子视频 as a student, Anne Purcell returned to the commencement stage to receive an honorary degree.
Cadets ready to lead as officers
91茄子视频 will commission 60 second lieutenants into the Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve during a 4 p.m. May 12 ceremony in the Convocation Center at 91茄子视频's Dahlonega Campus.
Ranger Challenge team competes at Sandhurst
The 91茄子视频 Ranger Challenge team finished ninth among ROTC teams and 21st among U.S. teams while coming in 37th out of 48 teams overall in the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition held May 1-2.
